Ollin Ameyalli is looking for part-time facilitators to work with adult learners preparing for their GED Trailblazers program.

You do NOT need to be a certified teacher.

We're looking for people who are:

• Patient and comfortable explaining concepts
• Interested in education and community work
• Willing to learn and follow our methodology
• Comfortable working with adult learners
• Open to feedback and professional development
• Comfortable with basic technology and documentation

College students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply, especially those studying Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Spanish, ESL/TESOL or related fields.

Training is provided.

Spanish-speaking and bilingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply.

Part time Position Overview

Ollin Ameyalli is looking for a part-time Math Instructor to support adult learners in our GED Trailblazers program, preparing for the GED Mathematical Reasoning test.

We are looking for someone with strong math skills who can explain concepts clearly, patiently, and in different ways until students understand them.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios and proportions.
• Solid understanding of algebra, equations, inequalities, functions and basic geometry.
• Ability to interpret graphs, tables and word problems.
• Ability to explain mathematical concepts using simple, practical examples.
• Patience working with adults who may have been away from school for many years.
• Ability to identify where a student is struggling and adjust the explanation accordingly.
• Reliable, punctual and consistent.
• Comfortable following the GED Trailblazers curriculum and methodology.
• Comfortable using calculators and basic educational technology.
• Willing to document student progress and communicate with the Program Coordinator.
• Spanish required for Spanish-language groups.
• Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• College student or graduate in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, Science, Accounting, Finance or another math-related field.
• Tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with the GED Mathematical Reasoning test is a plus.

Teacher certification is not required.

More than credentials, we are looking for someone who understands math well enough to make it understandable to someone else.
